About The Club

Established in 1923, Timuquana Country Club has earned the distinction as one of Florida’s premier private country clubs.

Timuquana's founding was based on a simple premise: a group of men who wanted to play golf as an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Word spread, and about 50 men gathered at the Seminole Club in downtown Jacksonville on May 25, 1921. They voted to proceed and on February 12, 1923, the charter of Timuquana Country Club was approved.

At the time, it was a golfing club, that managed to only maintain its golf-centric focus for 10 years until the Great Depression hit. Its Founders needed to change the mission of the Club to ensure its survival and the family-oriented Club we know today was born.

Originally designed by the famed Donald Ross, the golf course has remained the Club’s centerpiece. It has received attention over the years from four of the nation’s greatest architects: Robert Trent Jones, David Gordon, Bobby Weed, and Bruce Hepner. Today, it ranks as the area's most respected course.

The historic Clubhouse, nestled on the St. Johns River, was designed by architect Clyde Harris, with the intent of taking full advantage of views of the river and the golf course. The resulting southern-style building, designed to resemble Tara from the movie Gone with the Wind, was completed in 1958. The 50,000 sq. foot Clubhouse and supporting amenities include a resort-style, heated lap pool with beach entry, and casual, riverfront al fresco dining. Additional amenities include 7 clay tennis courts, 4 clay pickleball courts, a floating dock, formal and casual dining, a fitness center with spa services, and full-service locker rooms.

The Club has hosted numerous golf championships including the 2002 USGA Senior Amateur, the 2019 USGA Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, various US Open Qualifiers, the Florida Open, and most recently the Annual Constellation Furyk & Friends PGA TOUR Champions event each October.
